Keighley and Worth Valley Railway 40th Anniversary Steam Gala Weekend
27th June 2008 to 29th June 2008

A selection of photographs taken on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway 40th Anniversary Steam Gala from 27th to 29th June 2008. It rained for most of Friday, but I did get a few photographs, On Saturday services were only allowed between Haworth and Keighley as the WCR's BR Class 47 derailed at Oxenhope. Then on the Saturday Evening Ribblehead Dining Train Ex-Southern Railway King Arthur Class No. 30777, 'Sir Lamiel) failed and so the main line services that did run on Sunday were behind WCR's BR Class 37/0, No. 37248. On Sunday apart from one heavy shower it was another fine day.

 Built in 1899 to haul coal train in south Wales. When the TVR was taken over by the GWR, non-standard locos like No 85 were withdrawn. This engine was sold by the GWR in 1927 to a colliery in Sunderland. It was bought by the Worth Valley straight from service in the 1960s but was not restored until 2000, at Haworth Station.
